Kadir Jasin today said he was being criticised and lectured over his revelations on the state of the country which, he added, have had an impact on the local media. The former New Straits Times group editor-in-chief said he did not regret his harsh words, as he preferred to be blunt and straightforward."I am the type who likes to be honest. I will say what needs to be said even if it is disliked by others," Kadir wrote in his latest blog posting."If my readers understand, they will know my criticism of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is not out of rashness but backed by facts and figures."Kadir said anyone who was educated would be able to read, understand and decide whether what he wrote was right or wrong.Kadir noted a YouTube video by a Malay youth who “lectured" him for criticising Najib and asked him what else he wanted."I am thankful to the Malay youth for taking interest in what we, who are outside the mainstream, discuss and debate."We are also attracting attention from others who are taking an interest in our discussions and sharing it on other arenas."Kadir said some were using the mainstream media, blogs, YouTube and social media to scold and advise those who they felt were trying to overthrow Najib's administration."I am very happy with their participation, especially the younger generation. It is certainly better to talk things out in a civilised manner."It is good to respect the freedom of expression instead of shooting and bombing someone whom we do not agree with," he said."One of my former protégés, in a recent Facebook posting, gave an example of how a retired general should keep mum and give a chance to the next generation."But I think that a retired general would not be all that great if he just kept quiet and watched his country, which he had helped to build and defend, disintegrate due to the new general's follies."Kadir said he wanted a Malaysia which would continue to be peaceful and to prosper, with a strong and stable economy."I want my grandchildren and every other Malaysian to be able to lead a comfortable life, secure until the end of time," Kadir wrote. He said that between December 31, 2013, and December 29, 2014, the stock exchanges and currencies of Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, India and Singapore increased in value. But, the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange slumped by 5.3% and the ringgit dropped by 11.3% against the US dollar. – January 17, 2015.
